3 years...

Disclaimer: All the contents of this blog are about how wonderful my husband is. If you don't have a wonderful husband don't read this post, it will just make you jealous! Also I would love to hear about your wonderful husband, please leave a comment!

Wow, where has the time gone? It feels like Cody has always been in my life, but it still feels like we just got married yesterday!

Of course the last three years have added to our waste lines and our laughter lines. It's been a wonderful ride, and I'm lucky to be sharing it with Cody. I could gush on and on about how wonderful he is but I won't...
I could tell you how I think he's just the cat's meow, but I won't. I love my husband!

I don't want to brag about how he does the dishes, and vacuums, and plays with the kids.

I don't think you want to hear how he lets me sleep in on Saturdays,

You probably don't what to know how hard he works so that I can live my dream to be a stay at home mom.

I shouldn't tell you that he always puts me first even before himself.

I shouldn't tell you either that he listens to me when I have something to gripe about, or need someone to gossip to.

He's patient with my mood swings, but you don't need to know that.

He doesn't complain when I spend 50 bucks on a new hair cut. More importantly he doesn't complain when I mess up his hair cut.

He tells me I'm beautiful on days that I feel too tired to put on my make-up or do my hair.

And I'm defiantly not going to brag about how smart he is.

I probably shouldn't tell you how without him I'd be a lost soul, his testimony and knowledge of the gospel strengthen me in ways that I don't even know!

Since I'm not going to tell you all the wonderful things about my husband I'll just say that the last 3 years have been the most exciting, most fun, and most rewarding years of my life!
Thank You Cody for all you do, I love you more than you know! You are the greatest, I can't wait to see where this crazy ride called life takes us!

Life in the Slow Lane.....

..............moves VERY quickly!! I can't believe that February is ALREADY almost half over!!!! Where did January go? A lot has happened for my and my side of the Family. We blessed Toby that second Sunday in January, then a week later my dad moved to Africa and my mom and sister moved to St. George. I am all alone here in WYO. (It's not so bad to tell ya the truth!)
(Mom and Dad snuggling before they have to leave each other....SICK! :) )
(Toby in his blessing out fit, and on a blanket made by Melanie)

Cody has started his final semester of classroom type school, and it has been ROUGH on us! I don't know how it is for him but I MISS MY HUSBAND!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He leaves in the morning at about 6:00 and is MAYBE home by 6:00 that evening...............He is studying all the time. Carter is taking it the hardest, he misses him and ask about him all day. It's really sad :(. But ALMOST OVER! WAHOOO!(Daddy and Carter-I know it's a bad picture but it's all I had from the past month or so...)

I'm keeping myself busy.....trying to at least. I like to get certain things done each day so that our home stays clean. It seems like I am nursing Toby ALL day though, that makes it harder to get it all done before nap time like I used to, so I gave up and now I spread it out all day that way I have time for interruptions (a.k.a. Kids..). My boys are awesome. Carter is so helpful still and he LOVES Toby. And besides being hungry all the time Toby is a very happy content baby. It makes having two a lot easier than I thought it would be. I'm attempting to read Wuthering Heights, which is turning out to be more difficult than I thought. It was really easy to get into, but I need to pay more attention to what I'm reading or I have to re-read parts. Unlike other books I have read recently, this is a little more difficult of a read. Maybe if I stayed up a little later and could read it with out the help of little boys it would go better, but I like my sleep!!!

With Cody getting up so early to head to school my working out 3x a week has turned to a bust! Which SUCKS! I was really enjoying working out which is a first for me. I don't like to do it at night because it keeps my up, plus I'm already tired....so I don't get as good of a work out. Maybe when his schedule slows down a bit.
I'm working with Carter on talking, he's not picking up new words like I thought he would. I've been thinking about getting him screened to make sure everything is alright. He understands EVERYTHING though. He follows through with every instruction I give him, and he listens really well for an almost 2 yr. old. The word he can say are: Shoe, Cheese, Please, Ball, Mom, Dad, Down, Fish, Hello, Sippy, and Toby, along with animal noises (including an Elephant and Peacock....weird!). We are working on "Potty" "More" "Hungry" and "Help" he gets a treat if he says them. It's a slow process, because he's not interested it those words he'd rather just cry, or go in his diaper....
Toby is just the icing on my cake right now. He melts my heart with every smile! He likes me the best and I feel needed because of how attached he is. (I'm not going to like it in a little while but for now I'm loving every minute of it!!!) Carter is so much a Daddy's boy that when dad's around I might as well not be, so it make me grateful for Toby. Of course Carter does prefer a mommy snuggle to a daddy one.......It's amazing how a heart can grow to let another baby in! I just love BOTH my boys SO much it drives me crazy (Which my sister says is a short trip for me any way....)Anyway, back to my Toby update-- he is just about 12lbs already, and growing out of all his clothes. He is smiling, and enjoying tummy time. And I just love his chubby cheeks, and rollie thighs!

That about sums it up for the Plaisted Family! Love you all, and hope you enjoyed the update!

CHRISTMAS!!!

This year for Christmas was one of the most exciting for my family and me. Cody and I were so excited for Carter's Christmas, Santa had gotten him a gift we knew he was going to LOVE! We had already gotten our presents (Cody got a Lap Top, and I got a new bed). I was really nervous about going into labor on Christmas Eve because I had been dilated to a 3 and 75% effaced (meaning that the latent part of my labor was over and the active part could start any time) for over a week. But I made to through Christmas morning and I got to see Carter open his gifts which he LOVES! It is so amazing to see the excitement on a 1 year old's face. We read the Christmas Story (the REAL one from the Bible) before we let him get his gifts which he sat for REALLY well. Here is a video of our morning, it's long, but we just figured out our camera so....deal with it! :)

Not too long after contractions started, and some other "labor signs" and of course labor on Christmas wasn't ideal, so we stayed home for as long as possible. Around 4:30 we realized that it was happening on Christmas wheather we wanted it to or not, so to the hospital we headed. Apparently my contractions weren't hard enough to make too much happen very quickly, so on the Pit Drip I went (OUCH!). About 5 hours after heading to the hospital our beautiful baby boy was born. He was 7lbs. 14oz. and 21 inches long. We named him Toby Ray, he has dark hair and a hearty appetite. He's very mild tempered, but VERY hungry all the time so my chest hurts and I'm up all night, but it is SO worth it!

Labor was really hard, but Cody ROCKED as a coach. I don't think I could have done it with out his support. While we were at the hospital Cody and Carter came home (the 26th) and took Christmas down so I wouldn't have to worry about it when I got home. He also got our twin sized bed set up (so our moms can have some where to sleep) and our new kitchen table set up. I have said it many times, but I couldn't have asked for a better husband. He is better to me than I deserve! It was SO nice to come home and be able to relax. He has kept the house clean and Cater occupied, he is the best dad and husband and I don't know what I would do with out him! I LOVE MY BOYS!!!!!

Carter isn't quite sure what to think of him, he get a little jealous while I nurse the baby, but other than that he is quite good with him.

I am so greatful to not be pregnant any more. My boys are more than I have the right to ask for, and I feel so blessed to have the opportunity to be their mom.

Sledding!! (It didn't work......)

So when I woke up this morning, after not sleeping well AGAIN, and sore, and grumpy, and annoyed with pregnancy I decided it was time to take matters into my own hands.....So we went sledding! And it was so fun....very very cold and windy, but fun any way. Too bad it didn't put me into labor...bummer! Here are pictures of our adventure (none of Cody unfortunately he was playing photographer).
Carter wasn't exactly impressed with snow flying in his face, or just the snow in general......And I'm making a funny face, so feel free to laugh! :)
My niece Kelsey, she's an animal! She went down more than anyone!
All of us but Cody. Kelsey up the hill, Porter, Me, then Dan and Carter
Dan and Porter going down on the cool snow tube! That was my favorite!

Carter with Uncle Dee (That's what he calls Dan).
So I have 16 days left until my scheduled induction....but I'm hoping that he will come sooner, I couldn't be more ready to have him living in our home rather than my tummy. Any suggestion for getting my labor going? I'm up for anything right about now!!!!

News!

Well it's been a while since my last update. We are still truckin' along! It seem that pregnancy goes slower the last few weeks, but I'm almost done! Due to certain circumstances in my family (I'll post more about that later), I have asked to be induced a little early, so the 30th is the day if I don't go into labor early, and I'm not holding my breath for that. So YAY! We get to have a little bit more back on our tax return, right before Cody starts his rotations, so that will be nice! I'm very excited to get my very wiggily little boy out of my tummy and into my arms.

Cody is in the all too busy week of finals, and we are missing him a lot this week! He has one left, so thats VERY nice! He has done very well this semester, all A's and B's (Mostly A's) I'm so proud of him. We are both ready for a break though, Carter too. He's turned into a Daddy's boy and misses him and askes about him all day long.

Carter is growing like a weed! It makes me very sad to see how big he is getting, and how fast it all went by. He loves to make animal noises, and can make most of them. He loves to sit on the potty, and get a ball if he puts anything into it. We aren't pushing the potty training, but just getting a jump on it.

We are all looking forward to Christmas this year. It's going to be a quiet one here at home in Laramie. We didn't have a lot to spend on Christmas gifts, so we got some that we knew Carter would love, plus some clothes. Cody and I aren't getting much mostly because I got a bed recently, and Cody got a new computer for school. We didn't put up very may decorations, only the tree and a few ornaments, and only my favorite nativities. Less work when it comes to taking it all down.

Dan and Laura are staying behind this year too all for us so they can take Carter when I go to the hospital. It is SO nice having them here, I'm really going to miss them when they move to Riverton in May-ish.

Lately I've started having second thoughts on naming the baby Toby. I have had a re-occurring dream where we are at the hospital and I keep telling people "Oh we didn't end up naming him Toby" but I never say what we did name him in my dream, so I've been racking my brain to think of a name Cody and I would rather give him. I guess we'll see when it all comes down to it.

This might be the last post until after the baby comes. So until then, MERRY CHRISTMAS and HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!!!!!

Love you,

US!

Pregnant Women Have Feelings Too...

So today I was a single mom at Church again while Cody was working. So while reading the rest of this post understand that my stress level was peaked because keeping an extremely rowdy little boy quiet and still for a whole hour is more stressful than a lot of people know.

After sacrament today while ushering Carter to nursery a comment was made to me that went like this: Wow Sister Plaisted you look like you are ready to (hand gestures mimicking a huge explosion). Great I thought, I thought that this dress made me look smaller. My feelings being on the brink as it is, and feeling self conscious every Sunday I felt like a failure. I had tried to hard to look pretty and smaller so I wouldn't stand out so much being alone. Then for the rest of the people kept saying things, like I bet you are ready to go any minute, no I would say, I still have 8 weeks. WOW really? was the response every time......

So why I am making a blog of this is because maybe people don't understand what it's like to be this pregnant, and self conscious, and feeling like everyone is looking at you and thinking wow she can't get any bigger.....here is a list of things NOT to say out loud to someone who is Pregnant.

1. Wow you look like you are about to explode

2. You STILL have THAT much longer?

3. Are you sure it's not twins in there?

4.With a belly that big I bet your baby has plenty of room!

5. Maybe you should think about wearing a bigger size of coat.

6. Even your lips look pregnant.

7. Why do you care what your feet look like if you can't even see them?

8. You ate ALL of that?

10. How much weight have you gained this pregnancy?

Yes all of these comments have been made to me, yes all of them hurt my feelings, and Yes I know that none of them were meant to, and I don't hold it against anyone who said it to me. But I know I'm big, I don't want to be reminded of it everywhere I go.

On a lighter note, I only have 8 weeks left. WAHOOO!
