Pregnant Women Have Feelings Too...
So today I was a single mom at Church again while Cody was working. So while reading the rest of this post understand that my stress level was peaked because keeping an extremely rowdy little boy quiet and still for a whole hour is more stressful than a lot of people know.
After sacrament today while ushering Carter to nursery a comment was made to me that went like this: Wow Sister Plaisted you look like you are ready to (hand gestures mimicking a huge explosion). Great I thought, I thought that this dress made me look smaller. My feelings being on the brink as it is, and feeling self conscious every Sunday I felt like a failure. I had tried to hard to look pretty and smaller so I wouldn't stand out so much being alone. Then for the rest of the people kept saying things, like I bet you are ready to go any minute, no I would say, I still have 8 weeks. WOW really? was the response every time......
So why I am making a blog of this is because maybe people don't understand what it's like to be this pregnant, and self conscious, and feeling like everyone is looking at you and thinking wow she can't get any bigger.....here is a list of things NOT to say out loud to someone who is Pregnant.
1. Wow you look like you are about to explode
2. You STILL have THAT much longer?
3. Are you sure it's not twins in there?
4.With a belly that big I bet your baby has plenty of room!
5. Maybe you should think about wearing a bigger size of coat.
6. Even your lips look pregnant.
7. Why do you care what your feet look like if you can't even see them?
8. You ate ALL of that?
10. How much weight have you gained this pregnancy?
Yes all of these comments have been made to me, yes all of them hurt my feelings, and Yes I know that none of them were meant to, and I don't hold it against anyone who said it to me. But I know I'm big, I don't want to be reminded of it everywhere I go.
On a lighter note, I only have 8 weeks left. WAHOOO!
